Question 247783: Please clarify the following problem: The work surface of a desk is a rectangle that is twice as long as it is wide. If the area of the desktop is 18ft.2, find the length and width of the desk.
I have: 2x*x=18.2
2x^2=18.2
2x^2-18.2=0
2(x^2-9.1)=02(x-3.016)(x+3.016)=0
x=3.016
Check: 3.016*6.032=18.19
(Am I figuring this right?)
