Question 193535: Jeremy has a fish tank that has a 40-cm by 70-cm rectangular
base. The water is 25 cm deep. When he drops rocks
into the tank, the water goes up by 2 cm. What is the volume
in liters of the rocks?
It seems to me this is measuring by water displacement, but I do not understand how to go about solving this problem. Thank you.

Question 206365: The dimensions of a garden are in whole numbers. If the length is reduced by 3 and the width reduced by 1 then the area is reduced by half. What were the dimensions and area of the original rectangle.
I know the answer but cannot find the math to get to it!

Question 208415: The measure of a suppliment of an angle is 12* greater than three times the measure of a complement. Find the measure of the angle.
Okay, I understand that suplimentary angles add up to 180 and that complimentary add up to 90. However, it doesn't seem to give me enough info to write an equation for this. Wouldn't I need the other supliment and compliment? Any help?

b.How many square inches of fabric do you need if you want to include 48 squares? is it 276 in. squared
c. The fabric you buy is 36 inches wide. How long a piece of fabric do you need?
d. You buy a piece of fabric that has the length you found in part (c). Once you've cut all squares, how many square inches of fabric are left over?

Question 208494: The width if a triangle is fixed at 13cm. What lengths will make the perimeter greater than 88cm? Although I initially thought this solution could be easy, I am second guessing myself. My thought process feels me the answer could be 30cm since the perimeter would be 90. IDK-I've been struggling w/ Algebra & geometry for weeks now. Is there an easy way to fibnd the right solution? TY-Angel

I'm pretty sure that the answer is 25 x 15 from trial and error, but I do not know how to solve it algebraically.
