Question 203070: A rectangular track was being built so that the length of one of the short sides was half the length of one of the long sides. The track was supposed to be 300 yards around. At the last minute, the plans for the track were changed and a semicircle was added at each of the short ends. What is the distance around the track after the plans were modified?
I know that the width of the rectangular part of the track is 50, and the length is 100. (2x+2x+x+x=300 -> 6x=300 -> x = 50)
Don't know what to do from here.

Question 203194: Do you think that it would be easier or more difficult to visualize solids as compared to objects in one or two-dimensional planes? Are there obvious examples that you can come up with of solids that appear or are being used in our daily lives and the environment that surrounds us?
I know that it is very difficult to not be able to see all sides of a solid but I could not think of any examples. Can someone please help me.

I think the ratio is something like 50 to 2 but when I try to work this out
it does not make sense.

The area of a trapezoidal field is 1400 km^2. Its altitude is 50m. Find the two bases, if the number of meters in each base is an integer divisible by 8. Find the number of solutions to this problem.
I considered (a+b)50=1400
thus: a+b=56
but I don't know about the rest!!!
