Question 197442: If Sam can do a job in 4 days that Lisa can do in 6 days and Tom can do in 2 days, how long would the job take if Sam, Lisa, and Tom worked together to complete it?
The answer is 1.09 days, however I need to figure out the mathmatical breakdown that gives me this answer as my equations give me 1.23 days.
4/6=0.7
6/2=3
3.7/3=1.23
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Question 197653: a rectangular lawn is 80 ft by 60ft. part of the lawn is torn up to install a sidewalk of equal width around the lawn. The new area of the lawn is 800 ft^2. how wide is the sidewalk?
Hi - I can't figure this out. I know the area of the first rectangle is 4800 ft^2. Once I reduce the lawn I think the length is 40 ft and the length is 20 ft. That leaves 4000 ft of area. I don't konw how to find the width of the sidewalk. Thanks for your help.
This is not from a textbook but a worksheet my teacher gave us.

Question 198388: A landscape architect used the entire length of an 80ft rope to lay out a flower bed in the shape of a square. In another area, he used the entire length of the same rope to lay out a second flower bed in the shape of a circle.
Perimeter of square = 80 feet Circumference of circle = 80 feet
How many square feet greater is the area of one of the flower beds than the other? (use 3.14 for pi)
This looks to be from a textbook, but no reference are made on the paper.

I know that two angles have to equal 90º. So do I take 1/4 of 75º = 18.75. 90-18.75 = 71.25. Would the angles be 75º, 18.75º & 71.25º?
