Question 99529: I think I have this problem, but would like someone to make sure.
the volume of a rectangular box is 105 cubic inches. if the top is 6 inches by 3.5 inches, what is the height? I must show algebraic steps to get the answer.
I have 6 x 3.5 = 21 So the top is 21 inches
105 - 21 = 84
84 (divided by) 3 = 28
so the height is 28 inches.
Does that look right?????

Ok so lets plug in the given information.
first multiply 6 times 3.5
now divide both sides by 21
and so H = 5 inches
To check the answer just use the formula
and plug in all the values so
