Question 981584: A flower garden is shaped like a circle. It's radius is 16yd. A ring shaped path goes around the garde. The width of the path is 5yd. The gardener is going to cover the path with sand. If one bag of sand can cover 7yd^2, how many bags of sand does the gardener need. Sand only comes by the bad so number of bad must be a whole number. Use value 3.14 for pie Found 2 solutions by solver91311, josgarithmetic:Answer by solver91311(24713) (Show Source):
If the radius of the inner circle is 16 and the width of the pathway is 5, what is the measure of the radius of the circle that describes the outer edge of the pathway?
Calculate the area of this large circle. Then calculate the the area of the circular garden. Subtract the area of the garden from the area of the large circle to get the area of the walkway. Divide by 7 and round UP.

My calculator said it, I believe it, that settles it
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Outer circle area minus inner circle area is path area. is this ring path area. , somewhat "simplified" area.
