Question 977972: On airplane navigation maps, towers more than 1,000 feet tall have a special marking.
A new radio tower, WBETZ, has just been built. To stabilize the tower, a guy wire runs from the top of the tower to the ground. This wire is 2180 feet long and makes an angle of 27 degrees with the ground.
Does the WBETZ tower need a special marking on the navigation map?

You can put this solution on YOUR website! On airplane navigation maps, towers more than 1,000 feet tall have a special marking.
:
Use the sine of 27 degrees, where
hypotenuse = 2180
side opposite (s) = height of the tower
sin(27) =
s = 2180 * .454
s = 989.7 ft tall, no special marking required <1000 ft
