Question 975536: Find the distance between the given pairs.
1. (6,-7) (6,0)
2. (-4,-11) (4,-7)

You can put this solution on YOUR website! First one is 7 units, since both points are on the x-axis, and one needs only the difference between the ys. Distance is always positive.
Second one is sqrt(difference of x s^2 +difference y s^2)
That is sqrt(64+16)---that comes from 4-(-4)^2 and -7-(-11) ^2
That is sqrt(80) or 4 sqrt (5), since sqrt 80=sqrt(16)*sqrt(5).
