let x = the side of the square window (also the width of the window panel)
let h = the height of the rectangular window
then we know
x + h = 7 ft
and
x * 7 = 18 sq/ft
x = 18%2F7 decimal equiv: 2.57 ft the panel width and sides of the square
:
replace x with 2.57 in the 1st equation
2.57 + h = 7
h = 7 - 2.57
h = 4.43 ft is the height of the rectangular window
