You can put this solution on YOUR website!
the convention is to show the measurement of one of the horizontal sides and one of the vertical sides under the assumption the side opposite each is the same.

if you want to find the area then you multiply 18cm * 18cm to get 324 square cm.

if you want to find the perimeter than you add up 2 * 18 cm and 2 * 18 cm to get 72 cm.

the horizontal side is usually called the length.
the vertical side is usually called the width.

sometimes the convention is that the length is usually the longer side.

in that case, you would call the longer side the length and the shorter side the width.

the sides opposite are always equal in lgneth to each other if the figure is a square or a rectangle or a paralellogram.

if really doesn't matter which side is called the length or which side is called the width.

this is because the area is equal to the length * the width which is the same as the width * the length.

this is also because the perimter is equal to 2 * the length + 2 * the width which is the same as 2 * the width + 2 * the length.

you'll get the same answer either way.

your area is 18 * 18 = 324 square.

your perimeter is 2*18 + 2*18 = 72.
