Question 896389: A sprinkler rotates 360 degrees to water a circular region. If the total area watered is approximately 2000yd squared determine the radius of the region(the radius is length of the stream of water) Round the answer to the nearest yard.
My problem is setting this problem up. I believe I'm at some point supposed to use A= 3.14r^2 I'm not sure if it should be written like this: 2000=3.14(360)^2

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
+A+=+pi%2Ar%5E2+
You are given +A+=+2000+ yd2
+2000+=+pi%2Ar%5E2+
+r%5E2+=+2000%2Fp3.141
+r+=+sqrt%28+2000%2Fpi+%29+
+r+=+sqrt%28+636.62+%29+
+r+=+25.231+
The radius is 25 yds

You have the correct formula. Substitute what is known and solve for what is unknown (or for what is asked). Use the algebra that comes along with already-learned arithmetic skills.

The "rotates 360 degrees..." just means that the circle's interior is all sprinkled with water, meaning the entire area is water-sprinkled.

This is meaningful: highlight_green%28A=+3.14r%5E2%29
This is nonsense: 2000=3.24%28360%29%5E2
