You can put this solution on YOUR website! The square has 4 equal sides. If x is the length of one side ofthe square, then the perimeter of a square is 4x. We also know that the perimeter is 12 less than 7 times one of the sides, so if 4x and 12 less than 7x gives the perimeter, set those two equal to each other and solve.
4x= 7x-12
-3x =-12 OR 4x+12 = 7x -->12 = 4x
x=4
