Question 800430: the fence around Anne's garden forms a right triangle. The length of one leg is 5 meters, and the hypotenuse is 13 meters. What is the length of the other section of fence? Answer by Cromlix(4381) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Using the Pythagorean formula for
a right angled triangle:
Base side^2 + Vertical side^2 = Hypotenuse^2
Make Base Side = 5 meters.
5^2 + Vertical side^2 = 13^2
Vertical side^2 = 13^2 - 5^2
Vertical side^2 = 169 - 25
Vertical side =
Vertical side = 12 meters.
Hope this helps.
