Question 785300: A landscape artist wishes to fence in two equal areas. (There are 2 squares that are side by side in the picture). If both areas are squares and the total length of fencing used is 91 meters, find the dimensions of each square.
Can you please help me with this problem. I am having a hard time finding the formula to come up with the answer. Answer by josgarithmetic(39617) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Each side length of these two connected square regions is some number, x, and if you evaluate how many of these lengths are in this figure, you will find 7 of them. Three on one square, three on the other square, and one that is the shared side of both squares.
Seven total sides of length x meters each, for a total of 91 meters.
