Question 733907: Sofia is making a Valentine's Day card for her mother on a 11-inch-by-9-inch sheet of construction paper. Along the perimeter of the card, she will glue a length of red ribbon. She will also glue quarter circles of the ribbon in each corner of the card. The radius of each quarter circle is 3-inches. How much red ribbon will Sofia need for the card?

So far, I have drawn a square and by the length I put 11 and the width I put 9 and then applied it to the formula P=2(11+9).

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Hint:

Step 1) Start with a 9" by 11" piece of paper

Step 2) Add circles of radius 3 to each corner like you see below

Step 3) Cut off the corner bits of the rectangle that are outside of the circle

Step 4) Erase the circles and you have your basic shape/outline of the paper. This is the path that the ribbon will take.
