I think you have to find the distance between the two points ( A and A').
There is a formula in coordinate geometry called 'Distance Formula' which is used to find the distance between two points whose coordinates are given.
If A(x1,y1) and A'(x2,y2) are two points then
AA' = sqrt%28%28x2-x1%29%5E2%2B%28y2-y1%29%5E2%29
Now A(9,12) & A'(3,6)
So
AA' = sqrt%28%283-9%29%5E2%2B%286-12%29%5E2%29
= sqrt%28%28-6%29%5E2%2B%28-6%29%5E2%29
= sqrt%2836%2B36%29
= sqrt%2872%29
= 6%2Asqrt%282%29
