Our relevant formulas is
P=2L+2W (perimeter equals 2 times the length and 2 times the width)
We also know
W=2L
We can use that to sub in
P=2L+2(2L)
P=6L
42=6L
L=7
W=2L
W=2(7)
W=14
And to check 2*14+2*7=42
