You can put this solution on YOUR website!
In solving basic percent problems, remember this formula:
Part/whole = %/100
Once you have identified each component or value for this formula, plug-in the values that you know and solve for the unknown. Or cross multiply and solve for the unknown.
In your problem the whole total amount is 400 people. What is the part out of 400? It would be the 66 left handed people.
So, plug in the values that we know into the basic formula for percent problems:
Part/Whole = %/100
66/400 = x%/100
I plugged in "x%" because this is the unknown variable. We are looking for x.
At this point you can either solve for x by multiplying both sides by 100 and simpliying. Or cross-multiply and solve for x:
(66)(100) = (x%)(400)
Simplifying gives:
6600 = (x%)(400)
Solving for x gives:
6600/400 = x%
16.5 = x%
So, x = 16.5%
If 16.6% are left-handed, what percent are right-handed? How many are right-handed?
