You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A and B are complementary and measure B is 2 more than three times the measure of A. Find B

Step 1. Complementary angles means two angles add up to 90 degrees.

Step 2. Let A be one angle and 90-A=B be the its complementary angle

Step 3. Let 3A be three times angle A.

Step 4. Then 90-A=2+3A since measure B=90-A is 2 more than three times the measure of A. Find B

Step 5. Solving, 90-A=2+3A by Adding A-2 to both sides to yield

90-A%2BA-2=2%2B3A%2BA-2

88=4A

Divide 4 to both sides of the equation

88%2F4=4A%2F4

A=22 and B=90-A=90-22=68

Check...90-A=2+3A...68=2+3*22...which is a true statement.

Step 6. ANSWER: Angle B is 68 degrees.

I hope the above steps were helpful.
