Then is the shortest side.

And x - 4 is the second longest side.

The perimeter is the sum of the lengths of the sides, so:



Solve for x to get the measure of the longest side, and the other two follow from the relationships given. Hint: Multiply by 2 first to get rid of that pesky denominator.

And it doesn't matter who's nephew owns the trianglular plot.
