To start, P=2(L+W) ,------> working eqn
But, L=3W, 3 times the width
So, P=2%283W%2BW%29
96=2%284W%29
96=8W -----> cross%2896%2912%2Fcross%288%29=cross%288%29W%2Fcross%288%29
W=12cm
And, L=3%2A12=36cm
Go back working eqn:
96=2%2836%2B12%29
96=2%2848%29
96=96

just substitute into your perimeter equation __ P = 2(3W+W) __ 96 = 8W __ 12=W

L=3W __ L=3(12) __ L=36
