Question 156423: What is the equation for -The dimensions fo the solar-room are 10 feet by 20 feet with its longest dimension parallel to the wall of the house. the glass roof is flat at a height of 8 feet. the glass squares are 2 feet by 2 feet. how many pieces of glass do you need to buy to build the solar room.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Solar rooms are usually all glass, so I'll assume there are 3 walls of
glass and it says the roof is glass. What are the dimensions of each wall?
(1) wall parallel to house: 20' x 8'
(2) one of the end walls: 10' x 8'
(3) the other end wall: 10' x 8'
(3) the roof: 10' x 20'
Adding these up, the total glass area is
20%2A8+%2B+10%2A8+%2B+10%2A20+=+160+%2B+80+%2B+200
160+%2B+80+%2B+200+=+440 ft2
What is the area of each of the glass squares that the
room is made from?
2%2A2+=+4ft2
440+%2F+4+=+110 pieces of glass needed
