Question 129203: I drew the pentagon and not sure if I found all the triangles, I found 20 is this right or are there more. Heres the question. Thanks for your help.
Draw a pentagon with each of its five diagonals. How many triangles are contained in the figure?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The number of diagonals=d in a polygon is: d+=+%281%2F2%29+N%28N-3%29
you have a pentagon, then N=5
so, d+=+%281%2F2%29+5%285-3%29
d+=+%281%2F2%29+5%282%29
d+=+%281%2F2%29+10+
d+=+5+
The number of triangles=T (when you draw all the diagonals from one+vertex) in a polygon is: T+=+%28N+-+2%29
the number of triangles=T
T+=+%285+-+2%29
T+=+3
