Question 12605: Please help me with the following word problem:
In triangle ABC, andle B is 8 degrees less than one-half of angle A and angle C is 28 degrees larger than angle A. Find the measures of the three angles of the triangle.
I have to admit that I have no idea of where to start here. Please walk me through step-by-step so that I can learn how to solve these on my own.
Thanks!!

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let Angle A be your X,
So Angle B = (1/2)X - 8
Angle C = X + 28

Since we know the three angles in a triangle add up to 180,
+X+%2B+%281%2F2%29X+-+8+%2B+X+%2B+28+=+180+ Combine Like Terms
+%285%2F2%29X+%2B+20+=+180+ Subtract 20 from both sides
+%285%2F2%29X+=+160+ Multiply by ( 2/5 )
+X+=+64+

So Angle A = 64
Angle B = .5(64) - 8 = 32 - 8 = 24
Angle C = 64 + 28 = 92

92 + 24 + 64 = 180
