Helen went distance of %28r%2B4%29%283.2%29miles.
Anne went distance of %28r%29%282.8%29miles.

The sum of distances must be 332 miles.

was four miles per hour faster than Anne's. Find Helen's average speed and Anne's average speed.

There's something WRONG with one of the responses.

Let Helen’s average speed be S
Then Anne’s average speed = S - 4
Helen’s distance covered: 3.2S
Anne’s distance covered: 2.8(S - 4) = 2.8S - 11.2
Since together, they both covered a total of 332 miles, we get the following DISTANCE
equation: 3.2S + 2.8S - 11.2 = 332
                          6S = 343.2
     Helen’s speed, or

             Anne’s speed = 57.2 - 4 = 53.2 mph
