Half the perimeter is 24/2 = 12 inches.


So, the sum of the length and the width is 12 inches and the difference is 4 inches.


Hence, the length is  half the sum of 12 and 4

And the width is half the difference of 12 and 4  

    width = %2812-4%29%2F2 = 4 inches.
