A skier drops a total of 700 vertical feet while skiing 1200 ft down the slope.
What is the angle of the ski slope with the horizontal?
:
Find the interior angle (A) the skier makes with the vertical
A right triangle is formed where
hypotenuse = 1200 ft
side adjacent = 700 ft
Cos(A) = 700%2F1200
A = 54.3 degrees
Find the angle of depression (from horizontal)
90 - 54.3 = 35.7 degrees
