Let x be the measure of the angle PQS, in degrees.


Then the measure of the angle RQS is (x+40)  degrees.


From the condition, you have THIS equation


    x + (x+40) = 50.


It implies


    2x = 50-40 = 10 degrees;   

hence,

    x          = 10/2 = 5 degrees.      ANSWER
