The diameter of the circular table is the diagonal of the rectangular tablecloth,


so the diagonal and the diameter both are equal to  sqrt%2815%5E2+%2B+8%5E2%29 = sqrt%28225%2B64%29 = sqrt%28289%29 = 17 inches.
