A portion of a line which starts at a point and goes off in a particular direction to infinity.
the point that it starts at is called the end point.
your inequality says:
x is greater than or equal to 5 or x is less than or equal to -2.
this creates two rays.
the first has an endpoint at -2 and extends indefinitely in the negative direction.
the second has an endpoint at 5 and extends indefinitely in the positive direction.
