Question 1133493: There is a rectangle that is divided into 4 four triangles (2 diagonal lines) John says that because the angles in each of the 4 four triangles add to 180 degrees the angles in the triangles would be 180(4)=720. Ben says that the angles in a rectangle add to 90(4)=360 degrees. Discussion who is correct.

There is a rectangle that is divided into 4 four triangles (2 diagonal lines) John says that because the angles in each of the 4 four triangles add to 180 degrees the angles in the triangles would be 180(4)=720. Ben says that the angles in a rectangle add to 90(4)=360 degrees. Discussion who is correct.
They're both correct. However, Ben is referring to a rectangle without diagonals.
When diagonals are drawn, the rectangle is "converted" into 4 triangles, and the angles at the center of the rectangle, and which
are all included in the 4 triangles, will come into play, and will account for the 360o (720o - 360o) difference.
