There are 6 ways to choose the first name. Then, for each of those 6 ways, there are 5 ways to choose the second name, for a total of 30 ways to choose the first two names, then times 4, then times 3... But this is just the formula for the number of PERMUTATIONS of 6 things, namely 6 factorial.
