Question 1034536: a rectangular parking space has an area of 150 square feet. the length is 3 feet greater than twice the width. find the dimensions of the space rounded to the nearest tenth of a foot.
I got so far as to write L*W=A and realize that L = 2W+3 and then set it up as W(2W+3)=150 but after that I don't know what is the BEST way to approach this problem.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
w(2w+3)=150
w^2+3w=150
w^2+3w-150=0
You can use the quadratic formula to solve for this equation.
The answer is 7.94 feet!!!!!!

You found LW=A, and A was given A=150.

The description describes L=3+2W.

There you found LW=150

Next, you continue using algebraic arithmetic skills to solve that W in the equation. This is a quadratic equation and not very complicated. Solve for W. Maybe the quadratic part is factorable?

3W%2BW%5E2=150
W%5E2%2B3W-150=0-----------Does this form look better now? Factorize if possible, or if not then use general formula for solution of a quadratic equation.

When W is found, use it to evaluate L=2W+3.
