Question 1031281: A rectangular prism shaped aquarium is 10 in. By 20 in. By 15 in. High. The dept of the water is now 8 in. The owner decides to add stones that total 10 in.^3. How much will the water level change? Answer by Cromlix(4381) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Hi there,
Volume of aquarium
= 10 x 20 x 15 = 3000 in^3
Actual volume
= 10 x 20 x 8 = 1600 in^3
Addition of stones
1600 + 10 = 1610 in^3
New volume:
= 10 x 20 x height = 1610 in^3
Depth = 1610/(10 x 20)
New Depth = 8.05 in^3
Increase in depth due
to stones = 0.05 in^3
Hope this helps :-)
