now I = p*r*t
3508 = (.14x + .11y) * 2
solve first equation for x
x = 13900 - y
substitute for y in second equation
3508 = (.14(13900-y) + .11y) * 2
divide both sides of = by 2
1754 = (1946 -.14y + .11y)
1754 = (1946 -.03y)
.03y = 192
y = 6400
$6400 invested in business B
