Question 864639: If one person puts down 50,000 on a house and the spouse puts down 30,000 and the total home loan is 250,000, how much should each pay individually based on different down payments? One would obviously pay a little more to be fair.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The husband will now pay +x+ dollars
The spouse will now pay +250000+-+50000+-+30000+-+x+
The spouse will now pay +250000+-+80000+-+x+ or
+170000+-+x+
To make their payments the same,
+50000+%2B+x+=+30000+%2B+170000+-+x+
+2x+=+200000+-+50000+
+2x+=+150000+
+x+=+75000+
and
+170000+-+x+=+170000+-+75000+
+170000+-+x+=+95000+
The husband should pay $75,000
The spouse should pay $95,000
-------------------------------
check:
+50000+%2B+75000+=+30000+%2B+95000+
+125000+=+125000+ ( they pay the same total amount )
and
+2%2A125000+=+250000+ ( their payments add up to $250K )
OK
