You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Amount invested in bonds and cd = $75,000
Let the amount invested in bonds= $x
and amount invested in cds= $y
According to the question, $x= $y+$4,000 ...(1)
$x +$y= $75,000 ...(2)
Now substitute the value of x in equation 2
$y+ $4,000 + $y= $75,000
$2y + $4,000= $75,000
$2y = $75,000- $4,000
$2y = $71,000
$y= $71,000/2
y= $35,500-------Amount invested in cds
x= 35,500 +4,000
x= $39,500-------Amount invested in bonds
