You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let call the graphing calculators, G, and the scientific calculators, S.
The total number of calculators is 47.
1.G%2BS=47
The total cost to the college was $1625(G cost $57, S costs $10).
2.57%2AG%2B10%2AS=1625
Now use equation 1 and come up with an expression for G in terms of S.
G%2BS=47
G=47-S
Substitute that expression into equation 2.
2.57%2AG%2B10%2AS=1625
57%2A%2847-S%29%2B10%2AS=1625
2679-57%2AS%2B10%2AS=1625
2679-47%2AS=1625
-47%2AS=-1054
S=%28-1054%29%2F%28-47%29
S=22.43
Oops, it's not an integer value.
Can't buy 0.43 of a calculator.
Please re-check your numbers and re-post the question.
The procedure is still valid.
It does work for $1645. (G=25,S=22).
