You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Train A leaves a station traveling at 50 mph.
Four hours later, train B leaves the same station traveling in the same direction at 60 mph.
How long does it take for train B to catch up to train A?
:
let t = B train's time when it overtakes A
then
(t+4) = A's train, time
:
When B overtakes A, they will have traveled the same distance
Write distance equation; d = speed * time
B's dist = A's dist
60t = 50(t+ 4)
60t = 50t + 200
60t - 50t = 200
10t = 200
t = 200%2F10
t = 20 hrs , B's travel time

:
Check this, (A's time is 24 hrs) find the dist each travels
20 * 60 = 1200 mi
24 * 50 = 1200 mi
