Question 1043616: Here's my problem:
The price of the once high-flying tech stock fell by 22% the week before last and by another 15% (from its new lower price) last week. If the price of the stock is now $132.60, what was it originally (before both price declines)? Found 2 solutions by Boreal, MathTherapy:Answer by Boreal(15235) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! x was original price
(0.78x) was after the first week, and (0.78*0.85)=0.663 was the price after the second week.
$132.60 was the original price, and $132.60*(0.663)=$87.91
======================
CHECK
132.60*(0.22)=29.17 drop to 103.43
103.43*0.15=15.5, and that subtracted from the original is $87.91, if one rounds at the end.
