Question 307872: A student receives his grade report from a local community college, but the GPA is smudged. He received a “B” in the art class, an “A” in the history class, a “C” in the science class, a “B” in the mathematics class, and an “A” in the science lab. What was his GPA if the letter grades are based on a 4 point scale? (A=4, B=3, C=2, D=1, F=0)
I looked up the answer and its supposed to be 3.0, but I don't get it. I tried substituting the grades for the number on the scale and the getting an average but that gets me 3.2

Question 310816: I am not sure what kind of probelm this is or how to begin to solve it?? Can someone please help me? I have a collection of marbles and if I borrow 5 marbles from a friend, I can arrange marbles in rows of 13 each. What is the remainder if I divide the original number of marbles by 13? I understand that I divide but what?? How do I figure how many rows? if I subtract 5 from 13 I get 8 and if I divide that by 13 then I get .6, is this what the problem is asking me for?
