Second equation is where I am having the problem with interperting:
The sales representative later indicates that there are 3 times as many homes available with second floor plan than the first. Write an equation that illustrates this situation. Heres what I think the secon equation should look like: x + 3y =0?
When trying to solve with substitution my answers become false.
y= -x + 56 x + 3(-x + 56)= 0
x -3x + 168 = 0
-2x + 168 = 0
-2x = -168
x = 84
y= 84 + 56
y= 140
x + y = 56
84 + 140= 196
