Let number of dimes be D
Then number of nickels = 3D, and number of quarters = 22 - (D + 3D) = 22 - 4D
We then get: .1D + .05(3D) + .25(22 - 4D) = 1.75
.1D + .15D + 5.5 - D = 1.75
- .75D = - 3.75
