5*(3D) + 10*D = 625   cents    (D stands for dimes)


15D + 10D = 625 


25D = 625


D = 625/25 = 25.


Answer.  25 dimes and 75 nickels.


Check.   25*10 + 75*5 = 625 cents.   ! Correct !
