Let the mother's age be =x.
Given's current age = (1/4)*x.
Let Given's age be y
y = (1/4)*x...................................(eq 1)
Also given, 6 years back, Given's age was (1/10)th as old as her mother
y-6 = (1/10)(x-6)...............................(eq 2)
substituting for y in equation 2 from equation 1, we get
(1/4)*x - 6 = (1/10)(x-6)
Thus her mum's age is 36 years :)
