You can put this solution on YOUR website!
.
B=number of Bill's books; J=number of Jason's books=2B+4
.
B+J=22
B+2B+4=22
3B=18
B=6 ANSWER 1: Bill has 6 books
J=2B+4=2(6)+4=12+4=16 ANSWER 2: Jason has 16 books.
.
CHECK:
B+J=22
6+16=22

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let +j+ = number of books Jason has
Let +b+ = number of books Bill has
-----------------------------------
given:
(1) +j+=+2b+%2B+4+
(2) +j+%2B+b+=+22+
-------------------
Substitute (1) into (2)
(2) +2b+%2B+4+%2B+b+=+22+
(2) +3b+=+18+
(2) +b+=+6+
and
(2) +j+%2B+b+=+22+
(2) +j+%2B+6+=+22+
(2) +j+=+16+
--------------------
Jason has 16 books
Bill has 6 books
--------------------
check:
(1) +j+=+2b+%2B+4+
(1) +16+=+2%2A6+%2B+4+
(1) +16+=+16+
OK
