You can put this solution on YOUR website!
system%28j=p%2B3%2Cj=L-2%2Cj%2Bp%2BL=62%29

Use substitution method for beginner's level method.

Notice j=p%2B3=L-2,
* p-L=-5
p=L-5

%28p%2B3%29%2Bp%2BL=62
2p%2BL%2B3=62

Use the starred equation again to solve for L in terms of p:
L=p%2B5
-
3p%2B%28p%2B5%29%2B3=62
4p%2B5%2B3=62
4p=62-8
4p=54
p=54%2F4
highlight%28p=13%261%2F2%29, and use this in the other equations, any that have p and either of L and j. Easiest to refer to the first two equations of the original system.

Jim is 3 years older than Pete but 2 yrs younger than Luke the sum of all there ages is 62 how old is luke
Let Luke's current age, be L
Then Jim's is: L - 2
Also, Pete's is: L - 2 - 3, or L - 5
We then get: L + L - 2 + L - 5 = 62
3L = 62 + 7
3L = 69
L, or Luke's current age = 69%2F3, or highlight_green%2823%29
Although not asked, Jim is: 21, and Pete is 18.
You can do the check!!
