You can put this solution on YOUR website!

A father is treble the age of his son currently. In 10 years time, he will be double the age of his son. What is the age of the father currently?
(Please help! How do i answer this showing ALL the working out? And could you please write the father's age as 'x' and the son's as 'y'?)
I do believe that in this particular case, the word's TRIPLE, not treble!!

With father's and son's current ages being x and y, we get:
x = 3y ------- eq (i)
Also, x + 10 = 2(y + 10)______x + 10 = 2y + 20_____x - 2y = 10 ------ eq (ii)
3y - 2y = 10 ------ Substituting 3y for x in eq (ii)
Son's age, or highlight_green%28y+=+10%29
x = 3(10) ------- Substituting 10 for y in eq (i)
Father's age, or highlight_green%28x+=+30%29
