I do believe that in this particular case, the word's TRIPLE, not treble!!
With father's and son's current ages being x and y, we get:
x = 3y ------- eq (i)
Also, x + 10 = 2(y + 10)______x + 10 = 2y + 20_____x - 2y = 10 ------ eq (ii)
3y - 2y = 10 ------ Substituting 3y for x in eq (ii)
Son's age, or
x = 3(10) ------- Substituting 10 for y in eq (i)
