You can put this solution on YOUR website!
let x, y be the present ages of Mia and Max
Mia was 12 years older than Max
x= y+12
5 years ago , mia age = x-5
5 years ago ,Max age = y-5
sum = (x-5)+(y-5)
=x+y-10
sum equals to 28
x+y-10 = 28
x+y = 28+10
x+y = 38
put x= y+12 in above equation
(y+12)+y = 38
2y+12= 38
2y =38-12
2y = 26
divide with 2 on both sides
+2y%2F2+=26%2F2
y= 13
x = 13+12= 25
Mia's age (x)= 25 years
Max's age (y)= 13
