You can put this solution on YOUR website! The difference in their ages won't change. It's still 2 years. the "three years ago" is to mess up your equation :-\
A = B + 2
A+10 + B+10 = 2(A+B)
A + B + 20 = 2A + 2B
Substitute the value of A from the first equation into the second.
(B+2) + B + 20 = 2(B+2) + 2B
Add
2B + 22 = 2B + 4 + 2B
2B + 22 = 4B + 4
Subtract 2B from each side
22 = 2B + 4
Subtract 4 from each side
18 = 2B
Divide each side by 2
9 = B
If younger brother is 9, then older brother is 11.
.
Let's prove it.
"The sum of their present ages will double in 10 years
9+11 = 20
In 10 years, 19+21=40
Success!
